Professors and researchers from the Centre for Management Studies of Instituto Superior Técnico (CEG-IST) linked to the DM4Manufacturing project, visited the Mitsubishi Fuso Truck Europe plant located in Tramagal, Portugal. In this facility, Mitsubishi Fuso trucks are produced to more than 30 European countries, among other world markets. The visit focused on internal logistics operations that enable efficient production strategies, as assembly line feeding policies and supermarket management. Being the automotive sector one of the target sectors of the DM4Manufacturing project, this visit proved to be extremely important to understand the real context of a manufacturing plant, which allowed the research team to have a clear insight of the manufacturing challenges of this industrial sector.
